I bought this to sit on a round cutting board over our homemade round bread loaves. It looks nice and does the job, but I had expected it to feel heavier in my hand. This is very light, and I had to check a couple times to be sure it was glass and not acrylic. Every time I lift it up, I feel like it will break easily if I'm not careful. If I had known that, I would not have ordered it. I wanted something that felt substantial in my hand, like those domes at an old-time diner over pies on the counter - something that will stand up to heavy use.

Functional & cute...I bought an adorable cake pedestal @ Pier 1 but it did not come with a dome. I bought this dome BC it fits the small diameter of the pedestal but is tall enough to provide plenty of space for piling up cookies, etc. and it's thin so it doesn't take up pedestal real etaste. Aesthetically, it's a fun piece, it looks like a bubble landed on the pedestal.

I selected this product to buy to go over my 8" round champagne marble cheese board to use when doing patio and house entertaining. It works perfectly. I wanted a bigger round cheese board and found that they didn't sell one with a glass dome so I had to get creative and create my own. It is a great dome shape for the purpose I am going to use it for when entertaining.I am very happy with this purchase.
