Rosanna borrows the dainty detailing and plentiful use of curves from 18th-century French Rococo arts to create her modern-day Rococo Noir tableware. The collection's ornate teapot, sugar and creamer set, and pedestal cake stands are executed in sturdy stoneware and glazed a deep, shiny black that elegantly accessorizes some of her other patterns. For Christmas dining, Rococo Noir pairs perfectly with the new Rosanna Haute Holiday pattern, which features such silhouettes in black as Santa's sleigh and a reindeer on a red-and-white ground. Throughout the year, use the solid black Noir to accent Rosanna's decorative black-and-white Parisian Wallpaper collection. Black adds drama to any table setting. Measuring 11-1/2 inches in diameter, this cake stand is the medium size of the three in the collection. A slight rim keeps cupcakes from sliding off, while a scalloped "skirt" drapes like a lacy cloth for a pleasing effect. The larger and smaller cake stands may be combined with this one to create a three-tiered buffet centerpiece with a strong wow factor. I absolutely love the look of this cake pedestal, however I was disappointed to find a quarter-sized area on the base that was not glazed. This defect was very noticeable, so I returned the pedestal to Amazon for a replacement. Upon inspection of my second cake pedestal, there were also a few areas on the top that lacked glaze. Not wanting to risk a third round, I returned it for a refund. Although I didn't get my hands on a cake pedestal, I was very impressed by Amazon's return service, and was pleased to receive my replacement the day after the request. If you're looking for a high quality piece without flaws, this is probably not the cake pedestal for you.

I love the look of this cake pedestal. I knew it would look great on my table. However, I was disappointed when I received it because there were a few spots that the glaze didn't cover (or maybe there were air bubbles). Also, because the finish is glossy, the defects stand out. I would expect better quality control considering the company (Rosanna) and the price.

I should have listened to the other reviews, but I really wanted the stand. The stand is nice and sturdy, but the glazing is really inconsistent, just like the other reviewers say. There are clearly spots that are unevenly glazed and noticeable --- for my stand it was around the rim of the plate. I'm so sad and so disappointed.
