The glass has bubbles in it. The pedestal is glued near -but not at- the center of the plate. The offset location causes the plate to be not exactly level. The dome will clear a 10" round cake ... as long as it's not frosted. Intend this setup for 9" or smaller cakes. The height of the inside of the dome is a bit more than 5".

I order the cake dome to display a cheesecake that I was making for a dessert auction . It worked out beautifully. I had another cake dome previously that had an uneven bottom so my cakes would not sit even on the plate. This one was nice and even!

This is a very nice glass cake stand and cover. I was concerned about ordering it, because I had seen one review where it had arrived broken. But thankfully, Amazon did a great job with the bubble-wrap around the original box it came in.I've seen cake stands that were a lot more money, and were not as large or as nice.
