I bought these to use as containers for terrariums.The glass did have a few small bubbles, but I wasn't overly concerned; it adds some character, and doesn't seem to diminish the integrity of the item. The glass isn't super thin, but it is not the heavy glass of my mother's 40 year-old cake dish, but it is very hard to find glass that heavy these days, and for the price, I wasn't expecting something as substantial as that. Having gone into that long description of opposites, I am not concerned that the glass will shatter during normal use, or during cleaning (at least not any more or less concerned than with any drinking glass/glass container).They work perfectly for the purpose I intended.If I were more into more formal entertaining, I would probably use these for food display.I like the slight height difference between the two stands, and it makes for a very nice display. And they aren't so top heavy that I'm afraid that they will tip over if the table is bumped.

I needed a small cake plate with dome to showcase a special gift from a friend. At first I didn't like that they came in a set of two, since I thought I only needed the one. However - they are so cute and perfect for a few cupcakes, cookies or whatever, that I'll use one for the purpose I intended - and enjoy the second for little desserts! Because they sit at two different heights - they would work very nicely together for two different small dessert offerings.

This set is very cheaply made. The glass is very thin. Both of my lids and bottoms have bubbles in the glass, as well as big blobs of glass that was not smoothed out. None of the four pieces is flawless. The imperfections aren't tiny, either. They are very obvious. I would not recommend spending the money on this set unless you are willing to risk bad craftsmanship.
