I was thinking of giving this only 4 stars because its not a very refined looking piece. The glass of the dome is very thick, BUT I realized this is also a punch bowl, trifle bowl, salad bowl... It has to be more dependable than a thin shell of glass that only has to cover a cake.Also, I'd have a hard time saying its got 6 uses when one is a cake stand and one is a cake stand with a cover on it. That's pretty much the same use, I'd say. OH and then there's the chip and dip, then the chip and dip with a cover on it...Whining aside, this is a good idea. I don't want to buy a cake stand, and a chip and dip dish and a punch bowl. I don't use any of these often enough to find places to store them in my home. One item that does all three is fine.

Having multiple functions means this is a space-saver, and I find a use for it at almost every party I throw. It's not the nicest looking glass, as other reviewers have mentioned, but it is extremely useful and the price is right.

Package arrived quickly and in great shape. Very sturdy construction. Just a described in the posting. The lid is heavy but appears very practical..
